Claude Fable 5 Generally Available on Amazon Bedrock and GitHub Copilot

Claude Fable 5 reached general availability on Amazon Bedrock and GitHub Copilot on June 9, 2026, alongside full availability on the Claude API.

Claude Fable 5 launched everywhere at once. Anthropic's new flagship reached general availability on Amazon Bedrock and GitHub Copilot on June 9, 2026 - the same day it was announced - alongside full availability on the Claude API. For enterprises and developers, there is no waitlist and no preview tier: the most capable publicly available Claude model ships day-one across the major channels.

GitHub Copilot: Day-One GA

GitHub made Fable 5 generally available in Copilot at launch, an unusually fast turnaround for a frontier model. GitHub CPO Mario Rodriguez framed the integration around agentic workflows: "What excites us most is the direction it points: a future where developers can hand increasingly ambitious work to agents."

The fit is natural given the model's profile. Fable 5 scores 80.3% on SWE-Bench Pro - about 11 points clear of Claude Opus 4.8 at 69.2%, with GPT-5.5 at 58.6% and Gemini 3.1 Pro at 54.2% - and took the top frontier-model score on Cognition's FrontierCode eval.

Amazon Bedrock: Mythos-Class with Built-In Safeguards

On AWS, Fable 5 arrives as a generally available Bedrock model, bringing what Amazon's announcement described as Mythos-class capabilities with built-in safeguards to enterprise customers. Those safeguards are baked into the model itself: cybersecurity classifiers route sensitive queries to Claude Opus 4.8 instead, triggering on less than 5% of sessions on average, alongside biology and chemistry classifiers and distillation prevention.

For Bedrock customers, that means access to the same underlying model as the restricted Claude Mythos 5 - which Anthropic reserves for cyberdefenders via Project Glasswing - in a form made safe for general use.

Pricing and the Free Window

Across all channels, API pricing is $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens - double Opus 4.8's $5/$25, but less than half the price of Claude Mythos Preview. On Anthropic's own plans, there is a promotional on-ramp:

  • June 9-22, 2026: included free on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans.
  • From June 23: usage credits required.

Why Day-One Distribution Matters

Frontier models have often rolled out to cloud and IDE partners weeks after their API debut. Shipping GA on Bedrock and Copilot simultaneously signals that Anthropic's enterprise distribution machinery has matured - and that it intends Fable 5 to capture agentic coding workloads immediately, before competitors respond.
